Certified translation

Documents submitted to public authorities, offices and courts cannot be the work of a lay translator. There are two ways in which the authority can see that the translation has been done by a professional translator:

  1. Printed, certified translation: the translation agency (but also many individual translators) signs and stamps the document and provides contact details (e.g. website address). The translation is accompanied by a tricolour ribbon attached to the original copy. On the back, but also in the header of the target language section, there is a clause stating that the translation is identical in content to the attached original.
  2. E-authenticated document: an electronically signed PDF which, when clicked, is certified by an independent certification authority as having been issued by our translation agency. Such a document is emailed to the client and can only be verified electronically. The advantage is that the client does not have to visit the agency in person and wait for the translation to be posted or delivered in person. E-administration, including electronic document authentication, has also received a boost from the coronavirus pandemic. Our documents are certified by Netlock Zrt. on the EUTL and are therefore accepted by authorities in all EU member states as being certified by us.

Whichever solution you choose, the translation is traceable, which is welcomed by all authorities and courts, as well as by all parties with an interest in the smooth running of proceedings.

The Hungarian authorities often require "authentic" translations and will only accept the work of Office for Translation and Translation Certification (OFFI), the Hungarian state translation agency. Exceptions to this rule are the 100 or so documents that need to be submitted to the Commercial Court for the registration, amendment or dissolution of companies, which can be translated by any professional translator, including our own staff.
If foreign authorities require translations, we can recommend us because there is no similar translation agency with a state monopoly anywhere else, and our translations have been accepted by all foreign authorities and have not been challenged in any proceedings.

Translation of extracts

Courts and authorities may accept partial or abridged translations when the judge does not require the full text and when the opposing party does not contest the translation, such as by accusing it of misrepresenting the facts. The translation bureau offers such abridged translations but follows industry standards by explicitly indicating that the translation is incomplete and always providing the full original document alongside the translation. This ensures transparency and compliance with legal and professional norms.
