Certified translation

Documents submitted to public authorities, offices and courts cannot be the work of a lay translator. There are two ways for the authority to see that the translation has been done by a professional translator:

  1. Printed, certified translation: the translation agency (but also many individual translators) signs and stamps the document and provides contact details (i.e. website address). The translation is accompanied by a tricolour string attached to the original copy. On the back, but also in the header of the target language section, there is a so-called clause stating that the translation is identical in content to the attached original.
  2. E-authenticated document: an electronically signed PDF that, when clicked, is certified by an independent certification authority as having been issued by our translation agency. Such a document is sent to the client by e-mail and can only be verified electronically. The advantage is that the client saves the hassle of having to visit the agency in person and waiting for the translation to be posted or submitted in person. E-administration, including electronic document authentication, has also received a boost with the coronavirus pandemic. Our partner Netlock Zrt. certifies our documents according to European Union standards and is therefore obliged to accept them throughout the EU.

Whichever solution you choose, the translation is traceable, which is welcomed by all authorities and courts, as well as by all parties interested in a smooth running of proceedings.

Only the National Office for Translation and Translation Certification (OFFI) is legally entitled to produce "credible" ["hiteles"] translations, which are often requested by the Hungarian authorities. If you need to submit documents to a Hungarian authority, ask if the official translation of a private translation agency is suitable. However, as other countries do not even have a similar public translation office, foreign authorities accept translations produced by verifiable translation offices, including ours. Our documents have so far been accepted by all foreign offices, authorities and courts, and have not once been challenged, for example in legal proceedings.

Translation of excerpts

Courts will accept extracted translations if the judge does not see the need to know the full text, or if the opposing client does not challenge it, for example by alleging misrepresentation of the facts. We therefore also provide extracted translations, but in accordance with the industry standards only
